GUELPH, ONT. — An upcoming International Women’s Day event hosted by Skills Ontario aims to celebrate and connect local tradeswoman with community members.
The International Women’s Day Networking and Celebration Event is being hosted at the Frank Hasenfratz Centre for Excellence on Thursday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The event kicks off with a morning and afternoon of skilled trade career exploration for young women in Grades 10 to 12 and is followed by an evening networking session featuring keynote speaker, Skilled Trades Ontario CEO, Candice White, explains a release.
There will also be exhibitor booths, hands-on activities and a panel of skilled tradeswomen.
While the focus is on women, allies and other groups are encouraged to attend, including families, educators, guidance counsellors, influencers and more.
“We’re excited to be offering this event for the third year now for residents in Guelph, Wellington County and the surrounding areas to encourage awareness of the career opportunities available for women to pursue in the skilled trades,” says Lindsay Chester, program manager of the Young Women’s Initiatives at Skills Ontario, in a statement.
While this is a registered event, interested individuals can still get tickets, which cost $10 per person.
