Ontario, Ottawa and Habitat for Humanity to build 33 modular homes

OTTAWA — The Ontario government has announced it is partnering with the City of Ottawa and Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa to build 33 modular townhomes at 40 Beechcliffe St.

The site is surplus lands from the City of Ottawa and was deemed appropriate for the construction of modular homes.

“Lessons learned through the construction of these homes will inform the ongoing work the province and its partners are doing to support modular homebuilding in Ontario and keep the dream of homeownership alive,” states a release.

Home prices at 40 Beechcliffe St. will be set to reflect prices home buyers can afford. The homes themselves will include three to four bedrooms and will require no down payment. Mortgage payments will be geared to household income.

Currently, the ground is being prepared for construction with sales expected to begin in early 2026.

Ontario is investing $3.4 million in the project and the City of Ottawa is putting forth $6 million, including $3 million in funding that was awarded to Ottawa through the province’s .

To date, Ottawa has been awarded $37.5 million through the Building Faster Fund.

Interested homebuyers can submit an Expression of Interest on  to learn about eligibility requirements, the release adds.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa will be responsible for reviewing applications from potential homebuyers, determining eligibility and administering sales.
