VANCOUVER – The massive Pattullo Bridge replacement project has reached another milestone on its way to the finish line with news the main span is complete.
This means that steel, deck panels and stay cable installation are complete and crews can now continue finishing work in this area.
The Pattullo Bridge, which crosses the Fraser River near Vancouver, is a key connection between the municipalities of Surrey and New Westminster.
The $1.4-billion project is scheduled to open later this year and will feature a new four-lane toll-free bridge that connects the two communities.
The project also includes the construction of connecting roadways on the north and south sides of the bridge, grade separations on Highway 17, and the removal of the existing bridge once the new bridge is complete.
Fraser Crossing Partners, selected by the Province of British Columbia to design, build and partially finance the project, is a 50/50 joint venture between Aecon and Acciona.
