HALIFAX – Post-secondary school students in Atlantic Canada are getting a boost from Wolseley Canada to the tune of $15,000 worth of bursaries as a way to help offset the financial cost associated with obtaining a skilled trades education.
Fourteen financial need-based bursaries will be available in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The bursaries prioritize programs related to the plumbing and HVAC industry, with a special focus on candidates who demonstrate a high level of financial need.
“It’s important to us to give back to the communities where our associates, customers and vendors are,” said Jacqueline Janes, general manager, Atlantic at Wolseley Canada, in a statement.
“Helping more students enter the trades will greatly impact the industry.”
Wolseley Canada carries out wholesale distribution of plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, waterworks, fire protection, pipes, valves and fittings and industrial products.
Its head office is in Burlington, Ont.
