TORONTO – WZMH has many reasons to celebrate.

The architecture firm best known for designing Toronto’s CN Tower is celebrating 65 years with the completion of a redesign of its Toronto studio at 95 St. Clair Ave. W., a building the firm originally designed in the late 1960s.

It was the firm’s first renovation of the space in more than 30 years, and it reimagined roughly three-quarters of the 15th-floor office for its 120-plus members, a release reads. Some of the new features include:

• Collaborative hubs: East and west studios flank a central lounge with city views, including sightlines to the CN Tower and other WZMH-designed landmarks. It is known as the office’s “social heart” for client meetings, firm gatherings and in-house learning sessions, known as WZMH Academy.
• Innovation zones: A dedicated R&D lab, along with hoteling desks.
• Heritage and history: Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier chairs selected by founding Principal Boris Zerafa, along with a painting by his brother Ronald Zerafa, anchor the space.
• Material and design: A Barcelona Pavilion–inspired black porcelain feature wall, extruded aluminum panels and adaptable furnishings combine minimalism with high-tech modernity.

“The redesign repositions approximately 75 per cent of the 15th-floor plate, while the north portion was retained as swing space during construction,” the release notes.

There is also an enlarged kitchen and servery.
