KELOWNA, B.C. – The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) is remembering former board chair Patrick Waunch as a man of integrity, generosity and someone who left a lasting impression on the construction community.
Waunch passed away on Dec. 25, 2025.
Born in Edmonton on May 22, 1947, his motto in life was “Work hard. Play hard.”

He began his career through a plumbing and pipefitting apprenticeship and went on to spend many years working throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories. His work took him to oil refineries, fertilizer plants and other large industrial projects, his obituary reads.
In 1973 he met his wife Eva Brown, and they moved to Fort McMurray in 1978 where he worked as superintendent for Catalytic Enterprises at the Syncrude Oil Sand Plant.
In 1984 they moved to Kelowna, B.C., where they founded Rambow Mechanical Ltd., which they operated for more than 40 years.
“He was a strong advocate for apprenticeship training and believed deeply in giving back to the industry through mentorship and service,” the BCCA writes.
In addition to his role at the BCCA, Waunch also served as chair of the Southern Interior Construction Association and contributed nationally through his involvement with the Trade Contractors Council of the Canadian Construction Association. There he was recognized with the 2016 CCA Trade Contractors Award, citing his infectious enthusiasm and dedication to the growth and improvement of the industry.
“His legacy will continue to be felt across the industry he cared so deeply about,” the BCCA states.
He is survived by his wife Eva, son Danial Bibby, stepdaughter Tammy Brown, stepson, Robert Brown, grandchildren Dylan Bibby, Meagan Young, Dakota Bibby, Carson Bibby and great-granddaughter Charlie Bibby.
“He will be most remembered for his infectious laugh and always being ready for the next adventure,” his obituary adds.
