Heads up B.C. constructors: Future of Work 2026 returns April 23–24

MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. – As B.C.’s construction sector continues to face challenges with teams having to face complex deliveries, tighter labour conditions and productivity and performance hurdles, the Future of Work 2026 event aims to equip leaders with practical insight they can apply on active projects.

Hosted by Pitt Meadows Plumbing & Mechanical Systems at its Shop XL facility in Maple Ridge, Future of Work 2026 takes place April 23 and 24 and brings together owners, general contractors and specialty trade leadership for two days of keynotes and industry discussions.

This year’s theme is Powered by People, Driven by Technology.

Program highlights include:

  • Keynotes: Wally Adamchik, president, FireStarter Speaking and Consulting, who will discuss leadership, culture and performance under pressure; Charlie Dunn, manager of Lean Construction at Mortenson, will deliver a keynote focused on construction flow and the operational habits that improve reliability on projects.
  • Mental Health and Resilience Panel will address resilience and mental health in construction, featuring Mandy Gill (author, Reset With Resilience), Angelo Suntres (founder, Human Side of Construction) and Moderated by Kristine Szeto (project executive, Canadian Turner Construction).
  • Workforce and training fireside chat

A fireside conversation on workforce alignment and training pathways will feature:

      • Chris Atchison, president, British Columbia Construction Association
      • Chris Gardner, president, Independent Contractors and ÈȵãºÚÁÏes Association
      • Jeannine Martin, president, Vancouver Regional Construction Association
      • Shelley Gray, Chief Executive Officer, SkilledTradesBC
  • Hyperscaling Infrastructure

Aleksei Myroniuk (industrial business development, Victaulic) will deliver a talk on hyperscaling infrastructure and what it means for delivery readiness, co-ordination and the workforce.

  • Day 1 Industry Mixer, 6 to 9 p.m.

The mixer brings together owners, GCs, trade partners and industry innovators for a networking experience, with local celebrity chef Alex Chen joining the evening.
