KELOWNA, B.C. — PCL has reached new heights, announcing phase one completion of the at ) in British Columbia.
According to the contractor, the project was completed two months ahead of schedule and features a hybrid mass timber and steel structure, supported by a new geothermal field.
The project also involved expanded passenger screening, concourse and hold room areas.
The milestone was achieved in collaboration with the , the and trade partners.
YLW began enabling works for the ATB expansion, phase one in fall 2022. Construction began in fall 2023.
The new departures lounge on Jan. 28 of this year.
According to the airport, passengers will continue to see construction activities as work on phase one continues with a scheduled completion by the end of 2026.
Additional amenities will include a new washroom concourse, pet relief station and new “grab-and-go” food and beverage options.
Phase two is anticipated to start construction in 2030.
