WINNIPEG — The Manitoba government is providing a one-time $450,000 investment to support CentrePort Canada Inc. in order to advance key initiatives, it says.
This investment represents a $200,000 increase from 2024’s operating grant. CentrePort is one of North America’s largest trimodal inland ports with over 2,300 acres of active development.
“We are grateful to…the Manitoba government for its continued support,” said Carly Edmundson, president and CEO of CentrePort Canada Inc., in a statement. “The private sector has invested over $1 billion at CentrePort Canada over the past several years, and there is more to come. This kind of economic progress is only possible when there is strong collaboration with business and like-minded partners in government.”
The Manitoba government is also conducting a functional design study of the province’s roadway system to identify future improvements and long-term road networks in the Inland Port Special Planning Area.
“The proposed infrastructure projects support trade, commerce and regional development, and provide future connections that enable development and improve access to northern Manitoba and the Port of Churchill,” the release reads.
The government recently awarded the functional design study for these projects, and work is underway with planned completion in fall 2026.
